PEIR Certification and Master Plan Adoption

The Sunnyvale Cleanwater Program has achieved two major program milestones this summer. On August 23, the City of Sunnyvale unanimously certified the Final Programmatic Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) for the Program. The PEIR analyzed the potential environmental impacts from the Master Plan’s proposed improvements pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). During the same meeting, the Council approved the Water Pollution Control Plant Master Plan which includes long-term improvements to all of the Plant’s major process areas to be included in the Sunnyvale Cleanwater Program.

These approvals are a big step forward for the Program, and the project team will now focus efforts on the design and implementation of upcoming projects to upgrade the existing facilities at the Plant.
