Third Cleanwater State Revolving Fund Loan Executed

In October 2025, the City of Sunnyvale executed its third Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan with the California State Water Resources Control Board to support the Cleanwater Program. This new loan provides $50 million in low-interest financing to implement the Existing Plant Rehabilitation Project. Improvements associated with the Existing Plant Rehabilitation Project include replacing equipment (such as pumps, valves, and motors), restoring deteriorated concrete, and modernizing the automation system at the western half of the Water Pollution Control Plant. The City secured this loan to save approximately $20 million compared to financing the project through bonds on the open market. Project completion is expected in early 2027.
